Chasin

About Chasin

Chasin doesn’t seem to have had much luck. He was first surrendered to Animatch in 2025 after the passing of one of his humans. About nine months ago, he found a new home, but sadly, he is back with us again. This time, it was because his family could not manage his constant barking.

The important thing to remember is that barking is communication. Dogs bark for all sorts of reasons—boredom, fear, anxiety, excitement, alerting their people, or simply because they want attention. The key with Chasin will be figuring out why he is barking and then helping him learn when it is appropriate to speak up and when it is time to be quiet.

His new family will need to be proactive about managing his environment. Sometimes something as simple as blocking access to a window can make a difference. More physical and mental exercise, along with rewarding calm and quiet behaviour, can also help. It may sound easier said than done, but the reality is that dogs don’t come with an instruction manual—and no dog should be expected to arrive perfectly trained.

One thing Chasin does know how to do is enjoy himself! He absolutely loves his long walks with the dog walkers. Small he may be, but he is full of spunk and would happily join his family on long hikes and outdoor adventures. Fetch? Perhaps! Catching a Frisbee? Maybe! Agility? That could be right up his alley. He needs a family willing to keep his body and his brain busy.

Because Chasin has a habit of chasing and nipping at children’s heels (there may be a little herding-dog ancestry at work here!), an adult home or one with older children would be best.

Chasin has already had one second chance. This next one needs to be forever. He needs a committed family who will take the time to understand him, work with him, and stick with him through thick and thin.

If you think you might be the one to finally change this little guy’s luck, please fill out the Application Form. Chasin is ready and eagerly waiting for his forever family.
