Nutmeg… where do we begin?
At only two years old, Nutmeg has already been bred as many times as possible, with her most recent litter arriving not long ago. No dog should spend the first years of her life being treated like a
puppy-producing machine. We believe Nutmeg is what is commonly marketed as a "Miniature Bully." Despite the name, it isn't a recognized breed but rather a mix of bully-type dogs selectively bred to produce exaggerated physical traits that appeal to buyers chasing the latest trend. Sadly, these designer mixes have become a gold mine for backyard breeders, where profit comes first and health, sound structure, and temperament often come a distant second. Dogs like Nutmeg are the ones who pay the price—and rescues like Animatch are left to pick up the pieces.
Thankfully, Nutmeg's future is looking much brighter.
She is an absolute sweetheart, and once we determine the cause of her allergies—possibly food, seasonal, or a combination of both—she should be much more comfortable. Unfortunately, her allergies have already resulted in ear infections and skin irritation, but she is receiving medicated
baths, treatment for her ears, and lots of TLC.
You may also notice that Nutmeg's ears have been cropped. Ear cropping is a cosmetic procedure that has long been prohibited in many places, yet unscrupulous breeders continue to perform it outside of veterinary care, putting dogs through unnecessary pain for the sake of appearance.
Whoever is lucky enough to adopt Nutmeg should understand that she may require a special diet and ongoing management of her allergies. We think you'll quickly discover that her wonderful personality, affectionate nature, and delightfully quirky habits more than make up for any
extra care she may need.
Nutmeg is more than ready to begin the life she has always deserved. She has already become a favourite with our dog walkers, soaking up every bit of one-on-one attention she receives.
