About Luigi

Luigi here, and life was grand… until it wasn’t. I spent my entire life with the same person. I knew my home, my routine, my human—and then, sadly, caring for me became impossible. At 11 years old, I find myself starting over at a time in my life when I should be enjoying the golden years in the comfort of the home I’ve always known.

And this is where Animatch would like to say something—not to judge, but to encourage people to think ahead. We are sometimes criticized for reminding people to consider a dog’s entire lifespan before bringing one into their lives. We understand that life can change unexpectedly. Illness, accidents, financial difficulties, family circumstances—none of us can predict what tomorrow will bring, at any age.

But when choosing a very young dog or puppy, it is important to be reasonably confident that you can be there for that dog through all the stages of his life. A puppy may be 10 weeks old today, but that adorable little guy could still be with you 12, 15 or even more years from now. Please think beyond the puppy stage and consider where you expect to be—and what your ability to care for an aging dog might look like—years down the road.

Because Luigi is living the other side of that story.

And please don’t think that being a senior means I’m ready for a rocking chair and a quiet life of doing nothing! I’m an amazing Boston Terrier who loves my walks and is always up for a good game of tug. I still have plenty of pep in my step and plenty of life left to enjoy. I’d happily join you for a car ride, head out for a nice stroll, then settle beside you on the couch for a siesta or a good movie. I may be 11, but I’m certainly not finished having fun.

What I need now is someone who can give me the stability and love I thought I would have for the rest of my life. Maybe that someone is you.
