Pinky

About Pinky

My name is Pinky, and I’m an 8-year-old, very tiny Xoloitzcuintli who is more than ready to be sprung from here and into a home of my own. I absolutely love a good cuddle and have decided that, after everything I’ve been through, I deserve the finer things in life: a warm house, a soft bed, tasty food, and a human who thinks I’m pretty special.

I was surrendered along with several other small dogs. We weren’t mistreated; there were simply too many of us for our family to properly care for. Now I’m hoping my next chapter will be a quieter one—with someone who has time for me and plenty of love to share.

I’m a Xoloitzcuintli, also known as a Mexican Hairless or simply a Xolo. If you’re considering sharing your life with me, you’ll want to do a little homework first. Being hairless comes with some special considerations. I need protection from the sun, such as dog-safe sunscreen or a little T-shirt on sunny days, and I’ll definitely appreciate warm clothing when the temperature drops. And one more thing: hairless does not

mean hypoallergenic. If your allergies are triggered by saliva or dander, I may not be your girl.
There’s something else you should know about me: I’m deaf. So while you’re researching Xolos, take a little time to learn about living with a dog who doesn’t hear. Yes, it means doing things a little differently, but deaf dogs can learn beautifully through hand signals, routines, and lots of positive reinforcement. With patience and understanding, we can communicate just fine.

After all the changes in my life, I may also need a little refresher when it comes to toilet training. A consistent routine, frequent trips outside, and a patient human will help me get back on track.
I may be tiny, but I have plenty of love to give. If you have the patience to help me settle in, the willingness to understand my special needs, and a warm lap that needs filling, I’d love to meet you.
