Meeko here! I arrived at Animatch with my buddy, Kiki. We were surrendered because our family had too many dogs. That's all in the past, though, and I'm much more interested in talking about my future. At 8 years young, I have plenty of adventures left ahead of me—all I need now is someone to share them with.
Now, let's address the obvious... yes, I'm a Xoloitzcuintli (go ahead, practice saying it!), better known as a Mexican Hairless. Trust me, you'll become the most interesting person in the neighbourhood on our daily walks. Be prepared to answer lots of questions and hear plenty of, "What kind of dog is that?"
Of course, being fabulously hairless comes with a few special requirements. I'll need pet-safe sunscreen and a stylish doggy T-shirt on sunny days, and when winter rolls around, you'll definitely find me rocking a warm wardrobe. A bath every few weeks followed by a little moisturizer keeps my skin looking its best. Self-care is important!
Here's another fun fact about my breed: we often have missing or oddly shaped teeth. It simply adds character! After my dental appointment, I may have even fewer than I do now. I could very well become the famous Mexican Hairless... and Toothless! Don't worry—I plan to wear that title proudly.
One more myth to bust: despite my lack of fur, I'm not hypoallergenic. If your allergies are caused by saliva or dander, I'm afraid my smooth good looks won't help.
With all the changes in my life recently, I may need a little refresher course in house training. A patient family, a consistent routine, and lots of encouragement will have me back on track in no time.
