About Flint

Flint is a beautiful young Poodle who is only now beginning to believe that people can be kind. He arrived at Animatch after being rescued by the Humane World for Animals Canada during a seizure involving neglect and cruelty. Flint and several other Poodles had clearly endured far too much. Their coats were painfully matted, some so badly they struggled to move. There was urine scalding, bruising, and a level of neglect no dog should ever experience. They even required sedation just to be groomed and relieved of the heavy mats they had been carrying for so long.

But Flint’s story is no longer only about where he came from — it’s about where he is headed.

This sweet boy is approximately three years old and has many good years ahead of him. Right now, he is learning that the world can be safe. Every gentle touch, every quiet walk, every patient interaction helps rebuild the trust that was broken. Progress may come in small steps. Some days will feel like breakthroughs, others may feel like setbacks, but what Flint needs most is someone willing to stay the course and celebrate every little victory along the way.

His ideal home will understand that decompression is essential. In the beginning, life should be simple and predictable. Perhaps it starts with exploring the yard, then a short walk down the street, and eventually discovering that the world is not such a frightening place after all. Another calm, confident dog could help show him the ropes, although right now play is not something Flint quite understands yet.

What Flint needs cannot be rushed — patience, compassion, and acceptance will be the key to helping him blossom. Beneath the fear is a gentle dog who deserves the chance to finally experience comfort, safety, and love.
