About Abby

Meet Abby – a sweet little dog who’s already seen more than her fair share of uncertainty.

She spent just one week in her last home. Thankfully, the person who adopted her through a local newspaper ad recognized that they weren’t equipped to care for her properly and brought her to a safe place—Animatch. What happened before that is anyone’s guess, as we have no history on her. But here’s what we do know: Abby deserves so much more.

Abby needs a family who will be truly committed to her—through thick and thin, from now until her final days. Dogs are not disposable. They’re not something to be passed along when life gets inconvenient. Sadly, at Animatch, we’ve seen far too many dogs bounced from home to home, often as a result of “free to good home” ads that don’t fully consider the dog's future. Abby is lucky—her last human made the responsible choice in bringing her here. But it’s time she finds her forever family.

Since her arrival, Abby has received the care she needed: she’s been spayed, had a hernia repaired, and received a dental cleaning. She’s also been diagnosed with luxating patella in both knees. While this doesn’t cause her pain, she will benefit from daily Flexadin (a joint supplement) and weight loss. She’s a little overweight right now, and regular, gentle walks will do wonders for both her knees and her confidence. A healthy routine and moderate exercise will help strengthen the muscles that support her joints.

Abby is understandably confused and searching for stability. She gets along well with other calm dogs, and having a mellow canine companion might help ease her transition. Since we don’t know how she reacts around young children, she’d be best suited to an adult home or one with older, respectful kids who understand how to give her space.

What Abby needs most is someone patient and kind—a person willing to show her that humans can be trusted. Let’s give her the second chance she so deeply deserves.

If you're ready to offer Abby a lifetime of love, stability, and care, please fill out the adoption form and ask for her by name. She’s ready to begin again—with you.
