Hi, I’m Balou – and I’m ready to get back to what I do best: being part of a family.

Don’t get me wrong, the folks here at Animatch are amazing. They do their best to make sure we’re comfortable and cared for, but let’s be honest… it’s not a home. And that’s what I’m dreaming about.

I was surrendered through no fault of my own – my family was no longer allowed to keep me in their rental. Tough break, huh? Those first few days here were overwhelming. So many new faces, unfamiliar sounds, and dogs barking all around me. But eventually, I took a deep breath and reminded myself: Animatch is all about second chances. They’re going to help me find a forever home – one where I’ll be loved and cherished for the rest of my days.

I’m a Newfiedoodle – that’s a Newfoundland and Standard Poodle mix – which means I’m a handsome guy who will need regular grooming every couple of months. I’m 8 years old and way past the puppy phase. No chewing your shoes, no digging through garbage. I’ve outgrown all that silliness. These days, I’m just looking to be someone’s loyal sidekick.

What makes me happiest? Walks, car rides, a good belly rub, and just being part of your everyday life. We may not have decades together, but I promise to make every single day count. Senior dogs like me have so much love to give – adopt one, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
