Hop-a-long

About Hop-a-long

Hop-a-long is my name, and yes, I have a bit of a story to tell! I made the long journey from Kuujjuarapik with a badly injured leg after being struck by a vehicle. Animatch called in the bone expert, Doc, who had some tough news for me: “Hop-a-long, we’re going to have to amputate your leg. It’s the best way to relieve your pain and get you back to enjoying life.”

Well, I was NOT impressed! I cried, and I cried LOUDLY. Some might say I was being a bit of a drama queen, but hey, I’m entitled to a little fuss, aren’t I? Doc reassured me that before long, I’d be getting around almost as well as my four-legged buddies. And you know what? I’m already proving him right!

I’m only five months old, and while I’ve had a rough start, I’m surrounded by people who believe in me. With their love and encouragement, I’m learning that having three legs doesn’t mean missing out on all the fun. I have a whole lifetime ahead of me, and I’m ready to get hopping!

Now, here’s something important for my future family to understand: I may be a tripawd, but first and foremost, I’m a PUPPY! That means all the usual puppy stuff — training, socialization, exercise, guidance and plenty of patience. I’ve lost a leg, not my brain cells, thank you very much! I’m eager to learn, and there’s no reason I can’t master leash manners and all sorts of other useful skills. My balance will take a little time to develop, but I’m ready to meet the challenge.

A family that isn’t away all day would be ideal. I’ve had enough loneliness for one little lifetime, and I’m hoping my next chapter includes plenty of companionship. Older, respectful children could be a good fit, especially while I’m building confidence and getting used to life on three legs.

And please remember, adopting me means making the same commitment you would make to any puppy. I need a family prepared to see me through all the stages of life — from energetic youngster to distinguished, grey-muzzled senior with perhaps a few creaky joints. I’ll need you to love me just as much then as you do the day we meet.

So, what do you say? Could you be the family to give this little hop-along his first real break? I promise to bring plenty of personality, a whole lot of heart and, quite possibly, a few dramatic performances along the way!
