About Ricky

My name is Ricky and if you adopt me, you’ll quickly discover that I was blessed with a truly sweet and gentle nature. The only reason my two Chihuahua brothers and I ended up at Animatch is because our beloved human became ill and could no longer care for us. It has been a big change, but I’m keeping my little tail wagging and looking forward to brighter days ahead.

Now, I may be small, but I still have important doggy needs. My dream home would be one where I’m not left alone for long stretches of the day — I much prefer companionship over solitude. I would also greatly appreciate a home stocked with soft cozy beds, an impressive collection of stuffies, and plenty of outdoor lounging time when the sun is shining. A Chihuahua takes his sunbathing duties very seriously, after all.

And speaking of Chihuahuas… don’t assume I’m a full-time couch potato just because I’m pocket-sized. I absolutely love stretching my legs, sniffing my way through the neighbourhood, and enjoying a nice walk on a beautiful day. Once I’ve had my exercise and investigated every leaf, twig, and mysterious smell along the way, I’m more than happy to curl up in a sunny spot or claim a warm lap for a well-earned nap.

I get along very well with other dogs — especially fellow Chis — and I wouldn’t mind sharing my home with a cat who respects my personal space. Respectful older children who understand that tiny dogs are not stuffed animals would also be welcome. Like many Chihuahuas, I will need a refresher course in toilet training. I’ve been using pee pads, but with patience, consistency, and lots of praise, I can learn that outside is the place to go.

At only 2.5 years old, I have many wonderful years ahead of me and so much love to give. I’m an affectionate, loyal little companion just waiting for a committed family to “cash in” on all the joy, cuddles, and companionship I bring to the table.
