Heidi and Poppy are presently being fostered by one our amazing Foster Moms.

Meet Heidi — a remarkable 13.5-year-old Poodle (yes, you read that right!) — who arrived at Animatch alongside Poppy, her “sister from another mother” and constant companion. These two girls shared a loving home for many years, until the heartbreaking loss of their human turned their world upside down.

In the midst of this change, Heidi and Poppy lean on each other for comfort and reassurance. Their bond is quiet but unmistakable — the kind that comes from a lifetime of shared routines, companionship, and love. It’s what helps them feel safe.

We will be honest: finding a home for one senior dog can be a challenge. Finding one willing to open their heart to two is even more so. But separating them would be a loss they simply don’t deserve after everything they’ve been through.

Heidi does have a large mammary mass. After veterinary evaluation, it has been determined that, given her age and the fact that it isn’t impacting her quality of life, surgery is not recommended. Most importantly, Heidi is comfortable. She still delights in her toys, has a touch of mischief, and continues to be a steady, reassuring presence for Poppy.

Our hope — our true wish — is to find a compassionate home where these girls can stay together for the rest of their days. A quiet place, a soft bed, gentle routines… and someone who understands that love, at this stage of life, is about comfort, dignity, and keeping bonds intact.

Animatch will do everything we can to keep Heidi and Poppy together, at least for as long as possible.
