Hi, I’m Kitcha — a majestic Bernese Mountain Dog with a heart as big as my paws.
Life threw me a curveball recently. My human loved me deeply, but due to health issues, we had to say goodbye. I’ve been settling in at the Animatch Centre, but what I really dream of is finding another family to love — one that will make this just a short stop on my way home.
I get along nicely with other dogs, and although I haven’t been tested with cats, I’d likely be fine. I’ve never lived with young children, so an adult home or one with older, respectful kids would suit me best.
Like many of us who enjoy a good snack, I’m carrying a few extra pounds — and I probably haven’t had enough exercise in the past few years. Regular walks, hikes, and fun adventures will help me get back in shape and keep my hips and legs feeling strong. I tend to pull like a freight train (what can I say, I’m enthusiastic!), so a bit of training would be a good idea. And when I give you my soulful “just one more treat” eyes, maybe a scratch behind the ears instead of a cookie will do the trick.
Adopting me also means embracing my beautiful, thick coat — brushing me a few times a week will help keep me looking and feeling my best (and it’s a great time for us to bond). But please, no shaving — if you know my breed, you know that’s a big no-no! And if shedding isn’t your thing, well, maybe a Bernese isn’t either.
If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion who already knows the joy of family life, I could be your girl. The volunteers here are wonderful, but I’d love to be heading home soon.
Fill out the application and ask for KITCHA — I’ll be waiting.
P.S. My official photo shoot is coming soon — stay tuned for my “supermodel” debut!
