Bentley here! It must be English Bulldog Month at Animatch because everywhere I look, I see one! My story is a little different from the girls who recently arrived. My family simply didn't have the time to devote to me, and I was spending far too many hours on my own. I'm a social kind of guy who has never met a stranger. I love human company and will thrive in a home where I'm included, given attention and treated to regular outings.
I am carrying a few extra pounds – apparently, a little too much food and not enough exercise will do that! Let's work on getting me back in shape as soon as I join your family. And remember, not every reward has to come in the form of a treat. A good scratch behind the ears, a little cuddle or simply sitting together while you tell me about your day will make me just as happy. Never underestimate the value of human attention to a dog!
Now, let's talk about my English Bulldog beauty regime. We Bulldogs are rather special, but we do come with a little extra maintenance. The area around the base of my tail needs frequent cleaning, and those adorable nose folds and facial wrinkles need regular attention, too. A little Vaseline or Bag Balm on my nose will help keep it moisturized. Keeping these areas clean and dry is important to prevent irritation and infection. This isn't a once-in-a-while beauty treatment; it's part of my regular care routine. If you're not prepared to commit to these little extras, an English Bulldog may not be the right breed for you.
What I'm really looking forward to is getting back into a family routine. Neighbourhood walks, playtime (I may not be an athlete, but I certainly enjoy a little fun!), and, best of all, being part of someone's everyday life. I don't need a marathon runner or a personal trainer – just someone who understands my needs, keeps me active at an appropriate pace and makes me feel like I'm home.
I'm ready to trade those long hours alone for companionship, affection and a family to call my own. I've had enough of being homeless, thank you very much!
