Baxter is ready to turn the page and start a new chapter! This four-year-old Chihuahua is hoping to find himself back in a home where he can enjoy all the little things that make life wonderful. Sadly, his guardian’s advancing age brought challenges that made it difficult to continue caring for him. It’s a reminder that while none of us has a crystal ball, adopting a dog means thinking beyond today. That adorable puppy or young dog could be your companion for the next 12–15 years, so it’s important to consider your own future health, lifestyle, and ability to care for them. And having a back-up plan is always a good idea — just in case life throws you a curveball!
Baxter is a sweet little guy who is settling into life at the Animatch Centre. He gets along with the dogs in his playgroup and is always happy to see the dog walkers arrive. And let’s clear up one little Chihuahua misconception: these guys don’t need to be carried around like furry accessories! Baxter has four perfectly good legs and would love to put them to use. Walks, outdoor adventures, a game of fetch, or simply enjoying the fresh air together would all be right up his alley.
Since Baxter hasn’t lived with children, a home with older, respectful kids would be the best fit. With all the recent changes in his life, he may also need a little refresher in the toilet-training department. A patient human, a consistent routine, and a few well-timed trips outside should help him get back on track.
If you’re ready to welcome Baxter into your life, please think long-term. He’s only four, which means he could be your faithful little sidekick for many years to come. We’re looking for someone who can reasonably expect to care for him through his senior years — and who has a plan in place should life take an unexpected turn.
If that sounds like you, fill out an application and ask for Baxter. He’s ready to trade the Animatch Centre for a home of his own, and we’d love to help him make this next chapter his happiest one yet!
