Picasso is my name, and I’m at Animatch because my beloved human was going through a difficult time and wanted a better life for me. Sometimes, life doesn’t go as planned, and as hard as it was to say goodbye, my human made that decision out of love. I wasn’t given up because I wasn’t loved; I was given a chance to be safe, cared for, and loved again.
Animatch thought I could use a little extra TLC to help me come out of my shell, so I’m enjoying life with an awesome Foster Mom and her little posse of dogs. They’re nice enough, but I’m more of an observer than a participant. I prefer to watch their shenanigans from the sidelines rather than join the party!
I’m a Chinese Crested – yes, really! My unique good looks come with a little extra esponsibility. My skin needs special care, and I’ll count on you to protect me from the sun and the cold. When it comes to exercise, I’m currently operating on two speeds: slow and stop ! But a little gentle encouragement and a few short walks each day will help keep this old boy moving. After all, we don’t want those legs collecting dust!
I may need a little help with my toilet training, too. Since moving in with Foster Mom, I’ve been doing pretty well going outside or using my pee pad, although I’ve had the occasional oopsie. A little patience, consistency, and understanding will go a long way. I’m not asking for perfection – just someone willing to help me get it right.
You might hear me cough now and then. I have a collapsed trachea, a condition sometimes seen in little dogs. It doesn’t seem to bother me much, but it’s something my new family should know about and not panic if I cough now and then. Using a harness rather than putting pressure on my neck is important, too.
I’ll admit that the thought of another move makes me a little nervous. I’ve already had to say goodbye to someone I loved, and at my age, I’d really cherished for the little character I am, wrinkles, quirks, slow walks and all! Could you be the person who gives Picasso his happily-ever-after? I may be an older gentleman, but I still have plenty of love to give. I’m just hoping someone will see past my age and realize that a little dog with a history deserves a whole lot of heart.
