Stormie

About Stormie

Meet Stormie — a young dog who weathered a terrible storm and somehow came through the other side.

In November 2025, Animal Control picked up a frightened dog in the Sherrington area. Sadly, that was only part of her story. Wrapped tightly around her head and muzzle was a coyote snare — a device that had caused devastating injuries and unimaginable pain. Shockingly, despite the suffering they can inflict on wildlife and pets alike, snares are not illegal. Many doubted that Stormie could survive. Stormie, however, had other plans.

The first person on the scene refused to give up on her. Recognizing that this young dog deserved a chance, she took Stormie into her care and began a long journey toward recovery. For months, Stormie underwent treatment, including hydrotherapy, while her wounds slowly healed. Progress was measured in tiny steps, but Stormie met every challenge with determination.

By the time she arrived at Animatch in June, she had already proven herself to be a fighter. The snare had caused extensive damage to her mouth and muzzle. While the physical scars remain, they are simply reminders of what she has overcome. She may drool a little more than most dogs, but that doesn't stop her from enjoying everything a happy young dog should. At just over a year old, Stormie is full of life and ready to embrace the future. Long walks, car rides, playtime, belly rubs — she's eager for it all.

Like most adolescent dogs, Stormie would benefit from continued training and guidance. She is bright, affectionate, and loves interacting with people. Training classes would not only help her learn the ropes but also strengthen the bond with her new family.

Stormie has already fought the hardest battle of her life. Now she needs someone willing to give her what every dog deserves: safety, love, and a forever home. If you think you could be the happy ending to Stormie's remarkable story, we would love to hear from you.
