If ever there was a dog who embodied that saying, it’s Dusty. This happy-go-lucky Cocker Spaniel simply radiates joy, no matter what life throws his way. Recently surrendered because his family had to move and he wasn’t part of the plan, Dusty has every reason to be sad. Instead, he chooses to look ahead with a wagging tail and an open heart.
Losing your family is difficult at any age, but especially when you’re 10 years old. Dusty, however, isn’t dwelling on the past. He’s all about second chances and can’t wait to be part of a family again. And while he may technically be a senior, nobody seems to have told him that! Dusty is active, enthusiastic, and ready for plenty of adventures with his future family.
One thing Dusty could use a little help with is his leash manners. Strolling politely is not exactly his specialty — he prefers to charge ahead and drag his human along for the ride. The good news? It’s never too late to learn a few new tricks.
Dusty is also a dedicated neighbourhood watch volunteer. He enjoys the sound of his own voice and will happily alert you to deliveries, passing visitors, or the occasional squirrel conducting suspicious activities in the yard. Because of his enthusiasm for barking, Dusty is not suited to condo or apartment living. A home with a fenced yard would be ideal, especially since he loves being outdoors, rolling in the grass, and supervising gardening projects.
Dusty recently tested positive for Anaplasmosis, a tick-borne illness. The good news is that he shows no symptoms. He is currently on a one-month course of medication and will require a follow-up blood test afterward.
Friendly and outgoing, Dusty gets along well with other dogs and has never met a stranger. He truly is a social butterfly who misses being part of a family.
