Hi there – Sophie here! I may look like a picture-perfect pup, but before you get swept away by my big eyes and adorable grin, let’s get real. I was brought to Animatch because a breeder couldn’t sell me due to my condition: I’ve got Grade 3 bilateral patella dislocation (that’s a fancy way of saying “wonky knees”). Surgery is in my future, but not until I’m fully grown.
Now, here’s the important part – aside from these tricky knees, I’m all puppy! Outgoing, fun-loving, and bursting with personality. I’ve never met a stranger, I love hanging out with other dogs, and I’d probably do just fine with a cat, too. An older, gentle dog to show me the ropes would be a big bonus.
But don’t think adopting me means sitting around until surgery day. Nope – you’ve got work to do! I need socializing, puppy training, and yes… exercise. In fact, daily walks are essential to build up the muscles that support my knees. (See? You don’t get off the hook that easily!)
Animatch is looking for a local family because I’ll need to come back here for surgery and follow-ups with the Animatch vet. After that, there will be recovery time, some gentle exercises, and a lot of TLC. Trust me, by then you’ll love me so much, you won’t think twice about helping me heal.
I’d do best in a family with older, respectful kids who understand that during recovery I may need to keep things calm. Otherwise, I’m ready to bring joy, laughter, and a little bit of puppy chaos to your home.
So, what do you say? Sophie’s my name, and I can be packed and ready to go in no time. All that’s left is for you to fill out that application form!
*** Patella dislocation is a complete displacement of the kneecap out of its normal groove, often causing a visible deformity and inability to move the knee.
