About Hubert

Gentle, easygoing, and armed with a nose that could rival any detective—I’m Hubert, your classic Bloodhound. One look into my soft, droopy eyes and… well, let’s just say I tend to leave a lasting impression.

Now, I may be built a bit like a Mack truck, but don’t let that fool you—I’m surprisingly agile. These long legs weren’t made for speed; they’re all about stamina. And here’s a fun little tidbit: those wrinkles and that wonderfully droopy face? They’re not just for charm. They actually help trap scent particles as I move along. My ears get in on the action too, sweeping scents right up to my nose as I go. In other words, every inch of me has a purpose—and yes, every wrinkle has a story!

That said, I’m not the kind of dog you choose just because I look unique or “different.” I’m hoping for a home that truly understands Bloodhounds—or has taken the time to learn about us. We’re a special breed with special needs, and having the right match is important. It might even explain how I ended up unclaimed at Animal Control… but I’m ready to turn the page.

Let’s be clear: apartment or condo living is NOT for me. While I’m generally quiet, when I do speak up, it’s a full-on Bloodhound bay—deep, loud, and not exactly neighbour-friendly!

And yes… there will be drool. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. I also have a rather enthusiastic approach to food and water—let’s call it “splashy.” If you’re someone who likes everything spotless at all times, I might not be your guy. Visitors may want to BYOT (bring your own towel).

What I do promise is enthusiasm for life. I’ll need daily exercise, and nothing makes me happier than a good “sniffari.” I’d also love to try my paw at training and maybe even scent work or tracking—after all, it’s what I was born to do! There’s a whole world out there waiting for us to explore together.

So, if you’ve got the experience (or the dedication to learn), the right environment, and a sense of humour about a little drool, I just might be your perfect match. I’ll be right here… nose to the ground, waiting for you.
