Wally’s life changed in a matter of days. His beloved human died and no one could take him or his sister, Orca, so Animatch was asked for assistance. Otherwise, the outlook for both dogs was grim.

Many dogs in rescue have the added drawback of being born the wrong breed, the wrong colour, or in Wally’s case simply too many years ago. These dogs are often viewed as imperfect to a potential adopter. Wally is about 8 years old we understand that for many who have recently lost a dog, the thought of having him for just a few years is just too much to bear.

For dogs – especially senior dogs who have had a loving home – the first days in rescue can be some of the most stressful, confusing, and sad days of their life. Like all dogs, Wally has grieved and he is now ready to put one paw in front of the other and get on with his life.

Animatch can vouch that Wally will be loyal to you; he wants something real and lasting. First on the agenda for Wally would be a diet. If we want his senior years to be healthy, it is very important that he loses weight. Obviously his previous life – at least in last year or two – did not include exercise. He is still an energetic fellow who can handle a few walks around the neighbourhood, as long as you don’t mind being dragged. Until he gets the hang of walking on leash, back yard exercise might have to do. He will need your help in getting back on track.

Giving a senior dog a home is an amazingly, generous gift; if you provide Wally with a loving, safe forever home, you will be reimbursed with tail wags and doggy kisses. In the meantime, he is just sitting back and patiently waiting for someone to fill in the Adoption Form.
