About Bettina

Meet Bettina, a charming little terrier mix who was found wandering the streets—another unclaimed treasure looking for a forever home. Bettina is sweet, affectionate, and eager to be loved. We're committed to ensuring she'll never be left to fend for herself again, and we're looking for a family who will provide her with the love and security she deserves.

Because we don’t have much history on Bettina, she would do best in an adult-only home or one with older, respectful children who understand how to interact with dogs. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys her daily walks. Bettina is currently underweight, so for now, we’re encouraging her to eat whatever she likes to help her gain strength.

Recently, Bettina was diagnosed with pyometra (see info below), but after receiving antibiotics and undergoing surgery, she’s on the road to recovery. She also had her teeth cleaned, which is especially important for small dogs. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings are crucial to keeping her healthy.

Are you the one who can restore Bettina's faith in humans? She’s ready to leave her past behind and become someone’s beloved companion. If you think Bettina is the perfect match for you, please fill out an adoption application today.

Pyometra is a serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus that causes it to fill with bacteria and pus. Many dogs with pyometra have vaginal discharge and may feel very sick with a poor appetite, lethargy, vomiting and sometimes increased thirst or urination.

The most effective treatment and method of prevention -- sterilization. Any female dog that has not been spayed can develop pyometra, but it is more common in middle-aged to older female dogs who have been through multiple heat cycles.
