Update - Sep. 12: Zia is still at Animatch waiting for her home. We are hoping to find a home in the area as she will need to come back for a small surgery (one of the screws in her leg is broken). She will also need to be sterilized.
This ordeal has been difficult on this pup. She was on total cage rest for 6-8 weeks and then slowly started going for walks etc. Her adolescent exuberance sometimes gets the best of her. She has missed a lot with regard to socialization with people and other dogs in her young life. in leash she has meltdowns when she meets another dog, A patient and experienced guardian would be best. Zia really needs a loving and stable environment -- the sooner the better.
Aparment/condo living is definitely not for her.

I was surrendered because my family couldn’t afford the surgery for my broken leg, but it’s been repaired, and I’m on the road to recovery. For now, I’m on cage rest, but soon I’ll be ready for short walks and some light exercise. My future is looking bright, and I’m expected to make a full recovery.
I’m a lively and loud little gal, so I wouldn’t do well in an apartment or condo. I do get along with other dogs, but since I need to take it easy for a while, a calm canine companion would be best for me. And toys? Oh, I absolutely love them – the squeakier, the better!
Since I’m still a pup, I’ll need a home where I won’t be left alone for too long. I’m also working on my toilet training, so I’ll need a family who’s patient and willing to help me out. If you’re ready for a 15-year commitment and want to watch me grow into your new best friend, I’m ready to meet you!
