UPDATE - MARCH 28:
Hazel here. I've been at my foster home for a couple of months now. As you can hopefully see, I have shed a few pounds, and gained some muscle. Foster mom says that when I find a new home, I need to tell them that I LOVE to walk, and spending time with me gardening in the yard is fun, but it IS NOT A WALK. If you don't walk me, I will whine until you do! It is more like a sniff and walk, but oh how I love them! 95% of the time I am great on the leash, but ever so often (depending on my mood) , a pesky yappy exuberant dog sets me off, and I can act like an idiot (or so says my FM).
I'm living with 2 other dogs, and I am not food or toy aggressive. I really enjoy car rides and behave nicely in the car. I don't get on the furniture, and sleep through the night. I am not destructive in the house. On a scale of A thru F, Foster mom grades my recall as F. I eventually come, not sure what her beef is all about..
I have been to several M & G's, and some say I am the welcoming committee. I love people and kids. I am usually quite well behaved with the other dogs in this setting. I’m also a sun goddess. If you have a room that is flooded with light, that’s where you will find me. BTW, did I mention that I am highly food motivated? Who knew?
If you are an active person that loves to walk, I am the girl for you. Please fill in the application and mention Hazel!
Same story, different day! My name is Hazel and I am currently homeless although happy to have been brought to a safe place. The good people here think no less of me. Then again, don’t expect a sad, sappy, poor-little-me tale. I’m an optimist and I am convinced that my best years are the ones ahead of me. That is what keeps me going … the thought of another family who are totally devoted to me.
My original family moved and passed me on to another family; however, after two months it was evident that I had a little too much spunk for them. I am 4 years old and being a Foxhound, mix means that I need daily exercise and opportunities to use my nose. A fenced yard would be a good thing, since we hounds tend to follow our nose at every opportunity.
I’ve got a wonderful disposition and tons of love packed into this body -- without all the pesky, puppy problems. Now don’t think that I’m looking for a couch potato; I may not be a puppy but I’m active and athletic. I have to exercise this nose each and every day. I believe that I could make you very proud if we sign up for training – a magnificent way for us to bond. I really could use some work on leash walking (i.e. dragging).
As you can see, I need to lose a few pounds and you must be determined to help me reach a healthy weight. This extra weight causes stress on my joints. If you feel that loving a dog means never saying no to sad eyes that are asking for a treat, then I’m not your dog.
I have the makings of a best friend, extraordinary walking partner, and top-notch snuggle buddy! I’m ready for a second chance. If you have room in your heart and your home, fill in the application form and let’s see what you have to offer.
Note: Hazel has tested positive for Heartworm, Lyme, and Ehrlichia (another tick-borne disease). She is presently on medication and showing no symptoms.
