Hi, I’m Astum! My name means "come here" in Cree, and I’d love to be the one you call to come home. Life hasn’t been easy, but I’m a survivor. At just 8 lbs, I’m lucky to be here after being hit by a vehicle. I arrived at Animatch with a broken pelvis and a badly injured leg. The vets thought I might need an amputation, but we're trying a brace first, which will help support my leg and keep it from dragging. I’m waiting for that next step, but don’t worry—I'm as resilient as they come!

Even with my injuries, I’m a happy, strong Chihuahua who faces life with a wagging tail. Helen, the kind lady at Animatch, says I’m sweet, trusting, and affectionate, and I love nothing more than cuddling up with my humans.

I get along well with other dogs, though a calmer dog would be best for me while I heal. I’d also do well with respectful older kids and might even be okay with a cat!
