Wonderful news from two special former adoptees
Animatch loves keeping in touch with our Alumni, and one of our follow-ups takes place about a year after adoption. Emails like the one below are a wonderful reminder of why our Volunteers keep doing what they do!
Mavis (now Misty) and Torres (now Shire) had a very difficult start in life. After coming from a hoarding situation, these two once-shut-down dogs have found themselves not just in a home, but in the hearts of an amazing couple. Their story is one of patience, acceptance, and never giving up.
We wish Misty and Shire many more happy years of love and happiness with their wonderful guardians!
They are doing great! We are the ones who should thank you guys for giving us the chance to rescue them.
So, Mavis (now Misty) LOVES people. Her tail wags non stop, it’s dangerous. She’s still timid, but if you take out a toy, you’ve won her over! She’s quite loved by all, even my 9-year-old niece.
Torres (now Shire) is a CUDDLE bug! After 3 days I could do what I wanted with him. He’s much more difficult with people, especially in our house. But on walks he’ll take treats from people no problem and he’s been on a camping trip with my family (we were about 6) and as long as his space is respected, he’s quite good. He’ll give a growl bark but if you talk cutesy to him and offer a treat, he’s quite forgetful of his previous growl. Regardless we don’t risk it with people we don’t know well. He always has his jacket indicating that he’s a nervous rescue.
We will never regret getting them together, they play and cuddle and love all the time. Sometimes I walk them alone to practice their dog reactivity on walks and when they are reunited, it’s like it’s been YEARS. It’s quite adorable!
They also do quite nicely at their obedience group courses, recall courses and all the rest.
The car is better, but still not their favourite activity.
I hope this is what you were looking for :) if you have more question, I’ll happily answer them.
Here are some pictures for you all.
