R.I.P, sweet Truffles

It is with broken hearts that Animatch shares the news that Truffles passed away this morning (July 11th). It happened so quickly that, within minutes, she was gone.

We take comfort in knowing that, although her time with us was heartbreakingly short, she spent her final days surrounded by kindness, gentle hands, and people who cared deeply about her. She deserved so much more than the life she was given.

Truffles was a victim of irresponsible breeding—a little French Bulldog whose body had been used, over and over again, for profit. By the time she came to us, years of neglect had taken an unimaginable toll.

If you've ever wondered why rescues encourage adoption instead of buying from breeders without asking questions, remember Truffles. Behind too many puppies sold for profit are mothers like her, bred until their bodies are exhausted and discarded when they are no longer useful.

Run free, sweet girl. We are so sorry we couldn't give you the long, happy life you deserved, but we hope you knew love before you left us. Rest in peace.
