This little guy deserved so much more.
Although Bouboule spent his final weeks with Animatch rather than with the family he had known, he never held a grudge. He was sweet, gentle, and completely unassuming — the kind of little dog who quietly worked his way into your heart.
One of our wonderful volunteers chose Bouboule as her companion for a road trip, and he absolutely loved every minute of it. In fact, you would never have guessed he was a senior. He was happy, curious, and thoroughly enjoying life.
And then, the best news: Bouboule had found his happily ever after. His new home was waiting for him, but we decided to delay his homecoming until we could figure out why he just wasn’t feeling well.
Today, we got the heartbreaking answer. Bouboule was in the advanced stages of cancer.
He had finally found his family, his forever home, and the promise of a new beginning — but sadly, he never got to experience it.
Yes, Bouboule deserved so much more.
We are grateful, though, that his final weeks were filled with kindness, attention, a wonderful road trip, and the knowledge that he was loved. Sometimes, all we can do is make sure a dog knows how much he matters before we have to say goodbye.
Run free, sweet Bouboule. You were loved. ❤️
