An unsung hero leaves us ...
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of André St-Pierre, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, who played a significant role in the founding and success of Animatch. Andre's unwavering support for his wife, Helen Lacroix, allowed her to pursue her dream of rescuing and rehoming dogs in need.
Andre's journey with Animatch began in their kitchen in Ile-Perrot, where dogs were a constant presence. Despite being more of a cat person, André put up with the barking and the chaos that came with supporting Helen's dream. He worked tirelessly as a truck driver to support his family and Helen's passion.
As the family moved to Les Cedres, André's dedication to Helen’s dream continued. The centre was attached to the house and he tolerated the volunteer’s constant knocking at the door. He became a familiar face to many volunteers, often found cooking at the Volunteer BBQs where many of the old timers really got to know him.
Then there was the latest move to Pointe-Fortune; he finally had his own house! Although there always seemed to be a dog giving birth or a dog recuperating from surgery in his basement! Even after retiring, André continued to support Helen and the rescue, ensuring the house was organized and the property well-maintained.
Earlier this year, André was diagnosed with cancer, and he spent his last weeks surrounded by love and care. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
André will be deeply missed by his wife Helen, daughters Andrea (Marcelin) and Karine (Louis), grandchildren Lea and Hailey, and all who knew him.
Forever in our hearts, André will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his willingness to support those he loved.
Salut André. Repose en paix.
