I have a name and it is Lacey. My brothers (Liam, Lucas and Logan) arrived at Animatch when we were days old. Our Foster Mom fed us, cared for us, and met all our needs – many sleepless nights were involved. More importantly our life did not end as another nameless pup born in a place where there are simply too many dogs. She gave us each a name.

In Whapmagoostui there are no veterinary clinics so sterilization just doesn’t happen. Litter upon litter are born with no one to care for us. We are the survivors but so many puppies and dogs do not make it. Sterilization campaigns are always talked about and every now and then action is taken to get the problem under control. Funding and resources, though, are often scarce and it just doesn’t happen. The overall goal is to control the stray population to make sure that there are less unwanted and abandoned litters.

In the meantime, we are the dogs and puppies with no names. Thousands of us never make it. What can you do to help? Do your research and find a way; if we can put men on the moon, there must be a path to resolve or at least help the senseless death of thousands like me.

I hope that my new family knows the commitment and time involved with adopting a puppy. My days are made up of zooming around after my littermates, eating, and lots of sleeping. In order for me to be a good canine citizen, I’m told that training would help me and you figure it all out. Just as fish need to swim and birds need to fly, I need to walk. No couch potatoes for this gal! And, I require a family who are present during the day as I’ll need exercise, supervision, and frequent potty breaks.
