About

Jersey

UPDATE - JAN. 15:

One year, 3 months, and 6 days after arriving at Animatch, we are thrilled to announce that Jersey has gone to her new home. Without the assistance of Virginie Forest and her awesome group of students at FIC (Ecole de Formation des Intervenants Canins du Quebec), Jersey may not be where she is today. They did an amazing job of working through various behaviours that might have prevented a successful adoption. Our heartfelt thanks.

UPDATE - DEC. 5:

Jersey here and time is going by and another Christmas without a home.  Come on people, take a second look at me.  Granted I have a few needs that must be taken into consideration and I admit I would rather be your one and only pet – but hey, that’s shouldn’t be a deal breaker!  FIC has been my home for far too long – I love them but I am ready for some one-on-one attention, every day!  Virginie and her crew of students will gladly give you lots of tips if you are chosen to be my family.

I would absolutely blossom with experienced, adult family, living in a single family dwelling, with no other pets.   I have learned to go for walks and not be bothered with other canines, but I don’t appreciate them in my bubble.

I only have one wish for Christmas and that is to find my forever home.  Please don’t let me down; won’t you consider adopting me. Fill in the application form and tell me all about yourself.

Jersey is my name and I am a striking Australian Shepherd and my breed can be trained to do just about anything.  I was surrendered to Animatch because of illness in my family.  Aussies are sensitive types and losing the only home I knew was rough on me; it resulted in me displaying some unacceptable behaviour.  FIC came to my rescue and for the past few months, they have been tirelessly working with me.  Nothing boosts a dog’s confidence like training.  Aussies are working dogs not simply pets to hang around the house or backyard; in fact, we thrive on being active.  I want to run and hike and swim and play fetch games and participate in herding, or agility (obstacle course), or advanced obedience, or tracking, or a similar canine activity.  You name it, I’ll try it.   Openness and loyalty are the qualities I possess, and once I find someone I can rely on, I’ll be their best friend for life.  If we are being open and honest with each other, and I’d like us to be, then I will tell you that I struggle when it comes to sharing (especially at first), so it is best that I am the only dog and to be safe an adult family would be ideal.  FIC has invested a LOT of time and energy into getting me to a place where I have the potential of being a wonderful member of a family.  Word on the doggy grapevine is that FIC is the place to make a dog all that she can be.  That does not mean that there is nothing else to do when I leave; training must be part of our everyday routine.  Thanks to the good people here, I have come a long way.  Now, I need to be special in someone’s life and continue my journey?  If you have the experience, the time, and the desire to adopt me, then by all means fill in the Adoption Form.
