Alaska and Hunter (formerly Hester) are doing very well. They are inseparable. Although less than 4 months apart, Alaska acts like a mommy to Hunter always ensuring he isn’t too far behind, or ahead! She checks on us all when out on walks, to make sure everyone is together. She still steals our socks and shoes when she needs more attention; she is incredibly intelligent and has an amazing sense of humour. They are very much into a routine now and let us know when we are behind schedule for one of their daily walks, snacks, or mealtime. They love to roughhouse every day in the backyard, Hunter gives Alaska a good workout. Hunter has learned a couple of new commands which he practices daily. He still squeals loudly at the sight of a small rodent or bird and sometimes other dogs or when he is nearing the dog park, that will be a tough habit to crack. The locals are adjusting to his “howlies”. They spent their summer travelling to their country place and back every weekend. Forest, lake and being outdoors all day is right up their alley. Alaska enjoys a swim, but Hunter stays clear of the lake approaching only for a cool drink. Hunter made it up the stairs to the second floor in our home for the first time ever this week. He was so thrilled with it that once he succeeded he spent the whole day going up and down the stairs just because he could lol! They do get jealous; if one is getting cuddles the other nudges their head in and vice versa. They are learning that we have plenty of patience and love for both of them, they are amazing little souls.
