A Female Terrier-x presently Adopted

UPDATE:  Well, the time has come for Maya and Kimi to be separated. Animatch has not received any suitable applications for these girls; however, this is not the main reason for splitting up the pair.  Kimi and Maya were not trained or conditioned to be apart, so it is difficult to get their attention in some situations when their behaviour becomes increasingly out of control (i.e. lunging, barking, etc.).  Individually they are both docile and very loving, but this dynamic duo’s behaviour soon becomes out of control when meeting other dogs -- they become little bullies.  This bond may well be as a result of their insecurity rather than because they love each other and enjoy each other’s company.  We do recommend obedience training classes for Maya and continued socialization with other dogs and humans.  She should also be exposed to many day-to-day situations that the majority of other dogs experience – walks, runs, nature hikes.  Maya requires an experienced family who has the patience to help her gain confidence as an independent dog rather than as half of a pair.  Please fill in an adoption form if you would like to adopt Maya.

My name is Maya and I am a 7.5-year-old, stunning Terrier-x.  I arrived at the Centre with my best friend and sister, Kimi.  My family was going through some changes in their lives and felt that they could not keep us.  I am good with other dogs, especially my sister.  My fondest wish is that we are adopted together, but we know how hard it is to find a good home for one dog let alone two!  Terriers are proud, lively and intelligent and I can prove it if you let me.  Kimi and I are both very docile and affectionate; they don’t come any sweeter than us.  I really enjoy going for long walks and my favourite pastime is chasing Kimi.   I would be okay with older children who know how to treat a dog respectfully.  I do take the job of protecting my house and property seriously, and will bark to alert my family.  Apartment or condo living would not be for me.   I need a home where I am not alone all day, we love our humans and do not like to be without them for too long.  I will require a lot of brushing and regular grooming by a professional groomer a few times a year.  Love is what I have to offer and that’s all I ask in return.  So, if you would like to adopt us, please fill in the Adoption Form.
