Leduke

A Male Collie presently Available For Adoption

Sometimes an adoption just doesn't work out -- no one's fault, just one of those things.  Animatch hopes to get it right next time.  Leduke has a high prey drive, so a feline free home is a must.  Although he is okay with other dogs, he is selective so he would do best as an only dog or with a laid back dog.  Collies are working dogs and if Leduke can't herd, he should at least be given a lot of exercise and oppportunities to vent his energy.  Of course, obedience training even at five years old would not be wasted; working dogs love to exercise their minds as well as their bodies.  Leduke needs an experienced family, preferably one who loves and understands Collies.  If you are that family, please consider adopting this deserving dog.  Fill in the Adoption Form and ask for Leduke.

Leduke finds himself in need of a home because his family was going through a separation and could not longer keep him.  Animatch would like to make sure that his next stop will be his last.  Leduke has a lot to say and likes the sound of his voice – his bark often means, “Let’s play, let’s walk, let do something”.  Collies are a herding breed and barking is part of their job; they are not happy when they are bored or not given enough exercise.  Leduke will need sufficient exercise and mental stimulation to prevent barking.  Will this mean that he’ll never bark?  No, but it will surely diminish.  Leduke must have regular opportunities to vent his energy and do interesting things. Otherwise, he will become rambunctious and bored – which he usually expresses by barking and getting into “stuff”.  Leduke could handle obedience training and even a dog sport; Collies love to work and it helps if it is fun.   He gets along with dogs but cats are not for him.  Leduke does shed and a lot; frequent brushing is required to prevent him from becoming a matted mess.  Dog hair that ends up on a brush will not end up on clothes, furniture, or the floor.  Collies should NEVER be shaved.   This guy is ready to occupy your sofa and give back some of the love he hopes to have in his furever home.  Leduke just wants to be included as part of a family ... could it be yours?  Please fill in the Adoption Form if you feel that Leduke is “the one”.
