A Female Pointer-x presently Adopted

Why does Animatch take dogs from other countries?  The level of enthusiasm among people might vary but, in the end, we have taken one dog from a life of uncertainty -- and in some cases suffering -- to give her the chance at a stable and loving home.  And, that is a good thing.  Happy is part of a nation of dogs – dogs are full of spirit but have no ethnic or religious backgrounds in their world.  There are people in her country, Lebanon, who have made it their responsibility to keep Happy and many other dogs in a safe environment although a shelter dog is never the happiest.  For that reason, they succeed in finding these dogs rescues in Canada and other countries who in turn will find them loving and caring homes.  These same organizations are driven in their quest to humanely prevent overpopulation and cruelty towards these strays while encouraging a society that treats dogs with respect.  Empathy and compassion are not something we can turn on and turn off.  One meeting with Happy and you will know why everyone who has come under her spell has worked tirelessly to get her to where she is today. A homeless dog is a homeless dog -- this nation of dogs in distress has no borders.  Happy needs to find her human.

Chances are she is Pointer mix and one encounter with her will make clear why she is called Happy.  This dog is a survivor; she was brought to a Vet in Lebanon after being hit by a car.  Her injuries were severe -- her front leg was amputated and she had extensive surgery on her hind leg involving work on her knee and hip including pins, screws, and other hardware.  Unfortunately, the surgeries are not over; Happy will require another to stabilize her hind leg to allow her better use of the injured leg.  This operation is unexpected and comes at a cost of $3000.00 at a time when Animatch is strapped financially.  No regrets.  From the person in Lebanon who brought her to safety, to the Vet in Lebanon who performed her surgeries, to the organization that arranged transport to Canada, to Animatch and our own Vet – humans have been fighting for this one dog to ensure she has her chance.  We can’t save them all but for this one girl, we have.

"If there is one creature to remind us of our humanity and to teach us faithfulness, love, loyalty and tenderness, it's the dog,”
