Diego

A Male Chihuahua presently Adopted

Diego is a feisty little fellow who just wants to spend quality time with you.  His last two families felt they could not keep him because he was an incessant marker.  We recommend that before adopting, you do your research on how to improve this situation.  There are many reasons for marking and understanding why Diego does this will go a long way to changing the behaviour (please see link below).  A home without other dogs would best suit him; although he does interact with other small dogs at the Centre, being the only dog would help in decreasing the marking.  He’d love it if you had some time to spare and took him for a few good walks around the neighbourhood every day.  Even though he weighs only 7 lbs., Diego still needs the mental stimulation that walks provide.   Little dogs can be victims of their own cuteness; some people see them as toys and accessories instead of dogs in desperate need of training and regular exercise.  Also, many toy breeds are not recommended for young children and it is for this reason that we recommend that couples planning on having a family consider breeds other than Chihuahuas or toy breeds.  Diego can be a barker when his human is out of sight, therefore apartment/condo living is out of the question.   He would best suit a home where he is not alone the entire day.  If you are an experienced guardian who will treat Diego like the treasure he is, then this tiny boy will return the love ten-fold.  Please fill in the Adoption Form if you are interested in adopting Diego.

So, BEFORE filling out the Animatch adoption form, find out whether you're ready for a dog, or would be happier with a goldfish instead: Fill this great questionnaire now to find out if you are ready for a dog.
