Chipper

A Male Dachshund-x presently Available For Adoption

My name is Chipper – a swell name for a cute boy!  I was recently transferred from the SPCA, Roussillon (formerly AMR); they were rather full and asked Animatch if they could take a dog or two.  My story is like so many other adoptees – an unclaimed stray, or like we strays like to refer to ourselves … unclaimed treasures.  I am great with other dogs but what I lack is socialization skills with two-legged creatures.   I am slow to trust and hesitant to invest myself in new people.  I'm the type of dog who needs to be ignored by strangers and I'll come to them in my own sweet time.  If I sense that I am cornered, I may snap (I really don’t want to but I feel that I have no choice).  So, an adult family or one with respectful kids over 12 feels about right.  I am just learning that going for walks is quite enjoyable and will be even more so in nice weather.  A home with another well-adjusted dog to show me the ropes would be perfect.  I would undeniably benefit from Obedience Training Classes; I could use the socialization since I get somewhat nervous around new people.  A good confidence boost should do wonders for me!   I am still learning what toilet training is all about so please be patient. I’m a sensitive fellow, looking for an experienced home where I can learn to feel safe and secure.   I know that when that right person enters my life it will be the best feeling in the world. Do you think it could be with you?  Fill in the Adoption Form and ask for Chipper.

Am I ready for a dog?

Adopting a dog is a life-changing event--or should be. A dog needs lots of time and attention and you've got to be there every day to give it. So, BEFORE filling out the Animatch adoption form, find out whether you're ready for a dog, or would be happier with a goldfish instead: Fill this great questionnaire now to find out if you are ready for a dog.
