A Female Chihuahua presently Adopted

Caramel is a 1.5-year-old, dainty and elfin Chihuahua.  Sadly, her family was unable to cover the veterinary costs to repair her broken foot.  Animatch and all rescues seem to be faced with a request for this type of assistance on a weekly basis.  Unfortunately, we must often say no – there is only so much that rescues and shelters can do with the financial resources available to us.  It’s cruel fact of life for pet guardians of modest means -- and, we urge everyone thinking of adding a four-legged member to their family to consider this.  We can’t put price tags on the lives of our beloved dogs but it may at some point result in that.  Consequently, it’s a benefit to have an emergency fund. The harsh reality is, veterinary care is a business, and just like any other business, its clients must provide the revenue. Therefore, it is not only Animatch that needs an Emergency Fund.  It’s something to consider.

Caramel (affectionately known as “Cara” by her Foster Mom) is recovering and hopefully will regain better use of her leg.  Aqua therapy is in the works and a follow up visit with the Vet is scheduled soon.  We will keep you informed of her progress.  Of course, she will need a guardian who will help her continue with her recovery.  As she weighs less than 5 lbs, an adult family would best suit her.  If you would like to adopt Caramel, please fill in the on-line Adoption Form.
