Cachet

A Female Canadian presently Adopted

Update - May 5:  Wonderful news for Lacy and Cachet.  The girls were adopted together.  Thanks to both of their Foster Moms for making such a difference in their lives.

UPDATE MARCH 2018:  Cachet has been with her Foster Mom for several months now and although her progress is slow, Cachet will surprise her every now and then and do something that will be totally out of character.  We think she may actually be starting to enjoy her surroundings.  Cachet recently was groomed and she got through it with flying colours.  Cachet has spent some time with Lacy and they enjoy each other’s company.  Her Foster Mom has dogs and cats and she does well with both.  She still needs her space to not feel threatened.  With Cachet you have to take pride in small victories.  She now shows a little excitement at meal time and she will eat in front of her family.  Whoever adopts Cachet needs to know that she might not reciprocate your affection – not yet anyways.  She needs an understanding guardian who will delight in her progress, provide her with the necessities of life with no strings attached, and basically accept her as she is.  There is a real dog in there, we just aren’t sure when she will show us her personality.  Please fill in the Adoption Form if you would like to adopt Cachet.

Meet Cachet, one of five dogs, that were brought to Animatch after a seizure in early August.  There have been many dogs that have come through the Animatch doors but these five girls are special.  Tinks was recently adopted and now we are looking for the right home for Cachet.  She has not been socialized at all – she fears most humans, noises, abrupt movements, etc.  No doubt, there is much work that remains to be done.  Her foster Mom says that she relates more to her other dogs than she does to her.  Cachet’s basic needs were not met, she lived in unsanitary conditions, she ate poor quality and spoiled food, she never had any veterinary care.  In short, they have not experienced a normal life.  She is not fond of being touched, picked up, or held.  Because there was so little human contact in her life, she is not able to trust people.  It can improve with patience and acceptance but we really don’t have a time frame.  We will try to update Cachet’s progress as time goes on.  If anyone with realistic expectations and the desire to help a dog without expecting anything in return is interested in adopting Cachet, please fill in the adoption form.
