A Male Boxer presently Available For Adoption

If you have the chance to someday meet Brutus, you will be astonished at his love for humans.  He really did not deserve the life he had prior to arriving at Animatch.  Yes, he was a breeding dog and life has not been kind to him.  His hips are very arthritic and he has an elbow problem but at 7.5 years old, the Vet agrees that the best course of action is to keep him pain free, with meds and possibly cartrophen injections.  All he needs is a home with a yard where he can roll in some grass and be doted on for the time he has left on this earth. Although he gets along with other dogs, he would be better with a low key female.

It’s a shame that the people who bought puppies that Brutus sired over the years never met him (or any of the other Boxers or Bostons that recently arrived at Animatch).  Of course, many of the buyers, who pay exorbitant amounts of money, were told that these pups were raised in a loving, family environment, will have minimal health issues, and possess friendly dispositions.  Some of these breeders continue to perpetuate the myth that good dogs cannot be found in rescue.  Even though they may be “certified breeders”, they may still be subjecting their dogs to puppy mill conditions.  Despite the cute puppy pics on Facebook and websites, you will never see or meet the parents, they aren’t available for viewing.  Well, take a good look at Brutus, Jinny, Nooky, Quipy, Landy Tyson and Rosie (who arrived with a tumour the size of a melon and died) and understand that these dogs have no value to their owners when they can no longer produce.  The are strictly property; their teeth can rot, they can go blind, they can have tumours, and their limbs can be bent, broken and arthritic – they are not concerned.  But for as long as they can produce, they have some value to these “breeders”.

Some day, Animatch hopes to not have to write these stories (they are very depressing).  That would be our happily ever after.  That day is still far off.  In the meantime, please consider showing Brutus that humans can be kind, patient, and generous – no strings attached.  Please fill in the Adoption Form and give him his first chance at a home.
