Bindi

A Female Shih Tzu presently Adopted

It’s been a long journey but I am well on my way to becoming a real dog.  I don’t need you to feel sorry for me, I need you to adopt me or one of my pals and give us a good life – no expectations, no strings attached.  Other dogs my age have had their puppy years to tap into their curiosity. They pick up on the cues of being a dog – how to play, how to interact with people and other animals, house training and just training in general. I have spent my puppyhood and all my adult years with a commercial breeder, so please, please understand that I am starting from scratch. In fact, all of us from this place are in a sense adult or senior puppies with some baggage.  Animatch has taken care of all my physical needs:  sterilization, vaccinations, dental extractions, ear infection, etc. and now I am ready to go to the home who will help me become the dog I was meant to be.  Building trust has been a very gradual process; up to now my world has been very small (no grass, no stairs, no walks).  I may look the same as any other Shih Tzu on the outside but I am very different on the inside; my life before Animatch was not perfect but it is the only one I knew and it was familiar.  Toilet training will be an ongoing process but please know that I am trying.  How successful we are at housebreaking will depend on your commitment.  Having another well-balanced dog in my new home would help me immensely.  Are you prepared to help me become the furry friend I was meant to be?  If you are willing to be the family to commit to me until the end of my days, please fill in an Adoption Form and make it happen.

Animatch appreciates everyone who demonstrated the interest and willingness to help Betty and all the  dogs who were recently released by a commercial breeder.  The applications are coming in and we are grateful; however, we are very clear in all the bios that all these dogs require toilet training.  Unfortunately, there are many who answer the question,  "Are you prepared to work with a dog that might require some level of toilet training?" with a NO.  For whatever dog you apply for, you must be willing to do some level of toilet training.  In the case of the former breeding dogs, you  may be in for some serious toilet training.  So, if you answer "NO" to that question, there is a strong possiibility that you won't be contacted.

Am I ready for a dog?

Adopting a dog is a life-changing event--or should be. A dog needs lots of time and attention and you've got to be there every day to give it. So, BEFORE filling out the Animatch adoption form, find out whether you're ready for a dog, or would be happier with a goldfish instead: Fill this great questionnaire now to find out if you are ready for a dog.
