Bailey

A Female Labernese x Mastiff presently Adopted

Star light, star bright, I’d like a home by Christmas night!  My name is Bailey and I promise that I am the most loyal dog around.  My true love will always be my human.  Sadly, because a child in my family suffered from allergies, I had to be rehomed.  My mature personality, mellow disposition, and my 130 pounds (30-40 of that needs to go!) of calm beauty, will make a family want to just scoop me up.  My skill set of being an amazing family dog is top notch!  As you can see, my humans shaved me with the hope of lessening the child’s allergies.  They meant well but this doesn’t help the person with allergies and it certainly didn’t do anything for me (please read below).

One thing you should know is that I am going to require surgery on my knees.  Unfortunately, this was not mentioned when I was surrendered; at the moment, Animatch faces two surgeries in order to make my remaining years comfortable. Before I undergo surgery, Animatch would like to see me reach a healthy weight.  They need to know that you are going to do everything possible to help me lose weight and most importantly maintain it.  If you feel that loving a dog means never saying no to sad eyes that are asking for a treat, then I’m not your dog.  The weight may not have caused the problem but it has only exasperated the issue and I need your love and commitment to help me lose it.  I so love being part of a family that Animatch has agreed that it would be terrific if I could go to a home, lose some weight, and then have the two surgeries.  If that sounds good to you, then let’s get me adopted.   I know that I’m ready.  Please fill in the Adoption Form and ask for Bailey.

NoteShaving a dog with a double coat to prevent allergies in humans is ineffective.  A dog’s topcoat is made up of guard hairs that don't shed.  Shaving the top coat only serves to make the undercoat grow in more profusely.  Consequently, it does not help the person suffering from allergies.
