I want to foster .... I want to adopt
Animatch has received an outpouring of requests to foster some of our Adoptees and for that we are grateful. However, for the time being our dogs are safe and being cared for by Helen and a small group of people and we do not require fosters. We prefer that the dogs not be shifted to another home before being adopted. But, there may well be rescues that are looking for families to foster. You might want to check with many of the other rescues in the surrounding area (you can take a look at Petfinder). If the situation at Animatch changes, we will let you know.
We are also receiving more applications than usual and it is heartwarming. But, please note that this is a 10 to 15-year commitment. Families have all the time in the world right now but when life returns to normal (hopefully, not too many weeks from now), lives will once again be filled with the responsibilities of home, work, school, etc. If you did not feel it was a good idea to adopt before the isolation, then it might be wise to rethink the plan. People are feeling isolated, anxious and bored at this time, and dogs provide comfort and relief to desperate people. All we are asking is to think ahead; we simply don’t want dogs adopted only to be returned in a few months with the age-old excuse that the family “no longer has time for the dog”.
